Well I knew it was gonna happen – ’cause I did the interview – but I didn’t know when it would come out, and I didn’t know it was out, but it is!
I’M IN HUSTLER MAGAZINE!!! Well, my art work is! In the May issue, pages 16 and 17, right there, in the front of the mag!
You can bet I’m super excited to call my dad and tell him, “Dad, I’m in Hustler!” He’s going to be so proud!
That’s right, it’s finally upon us, the opening night of Stitch Fetish!!! It looks great!! Here’s a peak at the entrance to the show:
Amy Sheridan’s Gallery of Glamorous Grooming
(that glob of earthquake tack will be removed)
In prep for the show, last week I did an episode of my pal Todd’s videocast, Film Pigs! Which I can’t seem to embed and I have too much to do to argue with WordPress right now, so you can watch that HERE. I have to say, it made me laugh.
And, if I didn’t have enough going on, my super talented new space mate at the Hive, Sarah Ockuly, and I re-did our space, repainted, blah blah blah. I think it looks great! Much prefer this to the previous gray walls.

Okay, off to run errands and such and hope to see you all this evening!
Three very important things to tell you today. Let’s get going so we have time to cover everything. Pencils ready?
1. Tonight is the debut of my artist in residence wall at the Hive Gallery! Saturday openings there are always very fun, a big party, with art to boot! Come by and see my naughty snowflakes!!
I am!! That’s right! Who’s house?? Run’s house!
Sorry, I get a bit excited.
So the deal is… my work is now available at Co-op28 on Vermont in Los Feliz, right here in Los Angeles! Woot! There’s some pillows:

glassware will be joining me in this case…
and some cards:

those are my Braille cards on the top right!
and I’m sure more artsy-craftsy silliness will ensue and join them.
I took these shots yesterday when I dropped off, but will go back later in the week when it’s a bit more set up and take more, wonderfuler shots.
I’m very excited to be working with Co-op28, it’s a terrific business that champions handmade goods; woo hoo! They also have a small, but well chosen, selection of well priced vintage goods and clothes (I gots a fab new hat!).
More news to come in the next couple weeks… happenings at the Hive, sprucing up the online store, not to mention the website…. lots of goodness.
Have a super happy Thanksgiving everybody; Japanese turkeys say gobbu gobbu.
Just a month now until final submissions are due for Stitch Fetish (due date December 15th), my next curatorial outing at Hive Gallery! The works I’ve seen so far are funny and dirty and so smart!
I hope you’re making something to show me… the devil finds work for idle hands, you know.
About time California!!! Prop 8 was finally overturned!!! Now everyone can do the same thing, which is supposed to be a big part of what this country is founded upon. Go figure.
So excited to throw away my signs!! Woot woot woot!!!

My favorite author died yesterday. I’m surprised by how effected I am. I’ve been reading her books for close to 30 years, and while I knew she was sick, 76 is too young to die.
If you’ve never read any of her books, please try one in her honor. She wrote something for every age group, was witty, wise, and kind to her characters. Some of my favorites (though I’ve read them all at least twice) are: Fire and Hemlock, Magicians of Caprona, Archer’s Goon, Deep Secret…
I could go on, she was publishing for almost 35 years.
Rest in Peace Ms. Jones. You gave me joy, hope, and friends I revisited time and again. I love you.
Commissioned by Roderic Crooks, who really is terrific.
I declare 2011 officially the year of the sock.

Plastic, typical anchor woman: Hollywood mourns the loss of Charlton Heston, dead at 84. Story at eleven.
Jonathan: How’d he die?
Me: Maybe someone shot him.
Take your stinking paws off me, you damned dirty ape!
Do you remember the movie Rabbit Test, starring Billy Crystal as the first pregnant man? Joan Rivers co-wrote the screenplay and directed (don’t you wanna see it now, just based on that?)? From 1978? No? I only remember because it was the activity for Kim Feidelman’s 8th birthday party, and I remember all the group movie outings. Anyway, we’re in one of those situations where fact has finally caught up with fiction. No Billy Crystal’s not pregnant, he’s too old, but Thomas Beatie is.

Beatie is a transman, a man who was born a woman, a female to male transexual. He and his partner, a woman, wanted children, but she can’t have any. Thomas had already begun testosterone treatment and had his breasts removed, but still had his vagina (that’s an odd thing to type, “his vagina”). He went off the testosterone and is carrying a child, to which he will be the father.
Now as stated in the piece I wrote about my neighbor’s request, I really don’t judge other people’s sexuality, and as long as they love their child and provide a stable home I think it’s fine, but the other side is how will other people treat the kid? And then there’s the sci-fi-ness of the whole thing…
I received this as an email and am reprinting here. If we all act together we can make a difference.
THIS IS NOT THE ‘DON’T BUY’ GAS FOR ONE DAY, BUT IT WILL SHOW YOU HOW WE CAN GET GAS BACK DOWN TO $1.30 PER GALLON.
This was sent by a retired Coca Cola executive. It came from one of his engineer buddies who retired from Halliburton. If you are tired of the gas prices going up, and they will continue to rise this summer, take time to read this please.
Phillip Hollsworth offered this good idea:
This makes MUCH MORE SENSE than the “don’t buy gas on a certain day” campaign that was going around last April or May! It’s worth your consideration. Join the resistance!!!! Read the rest of this entry »
