Another great show this weekend, The Official Bad Robot Art Experience at Gallery1988 (the one west of La Brea), opening Friday night. I was there today dropping off my piece and the stuff I saw was terrific! Lots of Lost, lots of Trek, lots of JJ Abrams madness!
And here’s a sneak peek of my piece, “Live Long and Cross Stitch.” (24″x24″)
So busy posting about Stitch Fetish, but there’s other stuff to share as well, like Young Adult at Gallery1988 in Hollywood. Co-presented by HelloGiggles.com, the show is all female artists on the theme of 80′s YA books.
I solved the mystery of what to make by going with Nancy Drew.
Oh my goodness, I almost let the time get away from me, but here I am, last minute, telling you about shows tonight! I have a couple of pieces in a couple of shows, so if you’re in Hollywoods and want to see some art, or me, come out and say hi!
First up, at Gallery1988 on Melrose is, “There’s Always Money in the Banana Stand,” a tribute to Arrested Development:
And then, at Antebellum, on Las Palmas, “10 Inches or Less…”
And if you missed it, I did an internets radio interview the other day, if you’re looking for a giggle.
Or good afternoon or morning wherever or whenever you read this…
Where does the time go? I mean to write, really I do, but so much goes on! I’m gearing up for my first featured solo artist show, it opens next month, May 5 (less than a month to go)! So, I’m madly stitching away… That is when I’m not gearing up for my curatorial debut in June! It’s been a really fun, very educational experience, curating. I’ve met some amazing artists, seen some terrific work, and, inevitably, had to disappoint some lovely people, but the positive has far out weighed the negative. I can’t wait for you all to see!
Meanwhile, back at the ranch, I have a piece in a group show that opens this Friday, the 13th (thunder clap, owl hoot) at Gallery1988:Venice – Suspense and Gallows Humor: A Tribute to the All Time Greatest. A bunch of the usual suspects pay tribute to Alfred Hitchcock. Mine is a tribute to Psycho.
If you’re in LA this weekend come by, have a drink, say hi, and see some art.
First, if you’re looking at the blog, and it seems weird and missing images, bear with me. I rebuilt my site – myself – and moved the blog and you don’t need to hear all this, but i need to do some tweaking and haven’t had a minute. But here’s what I’ve been working on. Remember those WIPs of the Tenenbaum pillows for this year’s Crazy4Cult? Well they’re done!
Each pillow is backed with the fabric that correlates to their costumes. Baumer’s pillow reads “He kept a studio in the corner of the ballroom, but he failed to develop as a painter,” and is backed with pinstriped wool with a Fila label. Margot’s read’s, “Margot Tenenbaum had been adopted at age two; her father had always noted this when introducing her,” and is backed with mink. Chas’ reads,”The bb was still lodged between two knuckles in Chas’ left hand,” it’s backed with red poly with white piping.
Show opens July 8 in Los Angeles, see you there!
That’s the punchline to my favorite Jeff Ross joke.
Tonight is the opening of “Is This Thing On?” the art show at Gallery1988 that pays tribute to comedians. I was assigned Jeff, and made, St. Jeff with a Rose.
Hope to see you tonight.
