Happy VD, kidlettes! If you have a sweetie squeeze them tight. If not, listen to Lady Day, she’ll cure what ails ya.

Did I mention I have a butler? Well, not really, but Wilkinson the Butler will be buttling Stitch Fetish 2, so, I’m going to pretend, at least for a while, that he’s mine. Here’s a promo we shot for the show and some shots of Wilkinson, obviously on a day off…

Keep meaning to share this. I’ve been doing some research for a project, looking for and at photos of NYC’s meatpacking district before it was gentrified.  Specifically from the 80’s and early 90’s when there was still meatpacking and trannies.  When Florent was the only restaurant we went to, and it was open 24 hours a day.  When Larry, and Lahoma lived on the corner of little W. 12th and Gansevoort…  and then I found The 5 Ninth Avenue Project, hours and hours of video of then and there.  Young everyone doing the most amazing performances and looking amazing whilst doing so.

If you were there, be prepared to remember all the things you forgot by the next morning, and if you weren’t, enjoy just a taste of the wonderfully creative, eclectic time and place that was NY’s gay club scene of the 80’s.

Been busy busy busy stitching over here!  Got my first big piece done for my show at the Hive this May; woot!  It’s a triptych and I’m super proud! I’m calling this series Fiber and Flesh, and the title of this first piece is, “Where do I begin?”

Ooh, Miss Peggy Lee was fabulous! She’s so blase and fierce! Look at that dress, that hair, that knowing, sly smile!

Nothing says Christmas like John Denver and the Muppets! Have a fabulous day, all!

Being in NYC always makes me nostalgic for Carvel cakes of yore… Here’s a little holiday spirit from the late 80’s.

me, with my dad, circa '82

I was thinking this morning about when Prince’s 1999 came out, and how it seemed soooooo far away. I was about 12 and couldn’t imagine being 29, much less the year 2000! Then I started wondering if it was because I was just a kid, and time seemed so relative at that age.  So I thought, “okay, the song came out in ’82, so it was 17 years off.  it’s 2011 now, so 17 years from now it will be 2028… woah…” it still sounds super futuristic.  Like something out of Duck Dodgers…  Or am I just getting older and weirder?

Thanks to the lovely Giddy Girlie for alerting me to this video from Gallery1988‘s blog – not sure how I missed it.  They don’t show my work, but the just as lovely Kate Flannery name drops moi.

Loving the new Beastie Boys vid – I love when you can see the hands! – but this might be the best Hip Hop video ever made!

Happy Memorial Day everyone.  Boy, could Lennie sing! And he was really handsome when he was young, but i’m getting off point. Have a great day.

So many exciting things happening! Getting ready to go to Reno mid June for Nada Dada, and just got included in The Dirty Show, an international exhibition of Erotica, here in LA the weekend of June 11 & 12! If you’re gonna be in town, come and get your Erotica on!

And now, the final count down!
