Every year I think, “This couldn’t get better,” and then it does. I’m so, so, so excited about this year’s Stitch Fetish (opening Saturday, February 6th at the Hive Gallery, DTLA), everyone has made such stellar, fun, fabulous work; I hope you love it half as much as I do.

It’s going to be an outrageous show; hope to see you there!!

There’s two weeks left of Stitch Fetish 2, and I wanted to give you all more information about the art than you may have gotten at the show itself, and make sure everyone knows the works are available online as well as at the Hive proper.

Today’s piece is one you’ve already seen if you follow my blog, because I adore it and it’s maker so darn much: “(Don’t Mention It #1) Sex,” by Luke Haynes. The piece is amazing. A fantastic piece of quilted art made from recycled sports bras, boxers, and panties – I saw two girls standing looking at it in the gallery and one nudged the other and said, “Look, it’s chonies!”

The piece measures 24″x36″ and is $2200.

by the amazing Luke Haynes

Luke is a serious talent. He has work in the permanent collection of the Brooklyn Museum, has been commissioned to make work for the Bill and Melinda Gates foundation, and was recently one of three featured quilt artists in New York City’s American Folk Art Museum’s show, “alt.quilts”

This is a rare opportunity to own an affordable piece by a very busy and quickly rising artist. For inquires or to purchase please contact The Hive Gallery at 213.955.9051
